Hollis is also a third generation Mariner with over 24 years of experience in the marine industry. Hollis started his education in this industry at a young age by working his grandfather’s boats fishing and repairing them. During this time he gained experience on a variety of commercial vessels in operation in the Gulf of Mexico. Hollis has worked in the marine transportation industry since 1989 when he tested and obtained his USCG Captains License. For the next 12 years he served as Captain of many commercial vessels servicing the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico. Hollis was eventually promoted to as a Port Captain with Superior Energy Services where he was responsible for all repairs, supplies, inspections, and personnel for an entire fleet of Lift Boats.
Today Hollis serves as Operation Manager for SeaTran Marine where he is responsible for most aspects of fleet operations. Hollis has worked for Iberia Marine Services the early 1990’s and then moved on to work with Superior Energy Services for 15 years. In 2005 Hollis moved back Iberia Marine Service as a full time employee and to his current position.
In addition to being USCG Licensed Mariner, Hollis is licensed and certified in MMS Marine Surveying with credentials from the United States Survey Association (USSA) for yacht, small craft, and fishing vessels. He is currently sitting for his membership exam to the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) for his CMS Marine Surveying credential for hull and machinery.
